Yasmin Almonte
Known as one of the most expressive and exciting professors of the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts, Yasmin Almote’s educational background and teaching experience in the Arts comes from across the globe: from the Philippines, Europe, and the United States – she graced her students with her enthusiasm for arts and teaching. She continually facilitates workshops, artist talks, and inspirational talks to motivate future artists of the country.
She was published in different art books and magazines in the Philippines and United States. As a practicing artist since 1987, she has been involved in numerous group and solo exhibitions locally and internationally.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Painting, Magna Cum Laude, University of the Philippines and was proclaimed as one of the ten outstanding students of the Philippines by the (DECS) Department of Education Culture and Sports. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Painting from the University of Northern Iowa where she graduated Cum Laude, Bachelor of Arts in Art Teaching Program (K-12th grades).
Yasmin Almonte is a recipient of several prestigious awards from the University of the Philippines, such as the Centennial Professorial Chair Award. She received a University Artist Award while working as a full-time professor at the University of the Philippines and Sports. She is an art expert that wrote articles for Mead Johnson from 2009 – 2010 focusing on the artistic development of children between ages 5- 18 years old. She was also the shadow mentor or syllabus writer of ABS CBN’s “I Shine” a program geared toward the artistic development of the youth.
